Management Reporter DB question

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Client wants to do their own MR install, and after reading thru the install guides, they have the following questions:

The documentation states that the setup user needs sysadmin permissions and permissions to create a database.  Does this new application have its owns database or does it snap into an existing database?

If this creates a new database what is the name of the new database and what is the estimated size and growth of the new database?

Thanks,

John

    RE: Management Reporter DB question

    Hi ,

We could not predict the Database size as 1 Gb because once the initial integration completed then the periodic integration will begin so whenever the reports definitions modified in the SL database accordingly it will increase the space in the MR Datamart database as well.

Answering my own question - Here's some info I got from a colleague:

MR creates its own SQL database.  MR doesn’t create any objects in SL Databases.  Default MR database name is ManagementReporter, but this name can be changed during installation process.

This application is so new that we don’t have any data on DB size and growth.  It will only contain MR Companies and report templates, just as FRx does.  I wouldn’t expect this DB to ever grow over 1 GB.
