couple of questions out to the wider community around production control module.a little long but needs some detail.
1. the function of report as finished is in the production control element of D365, as logically it relates to works orders or batch orders. A colleague who is training people in this area is adamant report as finished is nothing to do with production. Instead he believes it’s a warehouse process. To me the report as finished does need in this instance a location On the warehouse as the default, but outside of that is nothing warehouse related. Key here as well is NO warehouse work is completed in this operation for ANY Production activities. What are people’s views production or warehouse?
2. I have a location on the warehouse detailed above default for finished goods put away we will call A for this example. On all batch orders reported as finished stock is put into that location. However once resource Group attached to some batch jobs has an output location defined as location B. So all batch jobs on this production resource group are failing to report as finished. No other references to locations exist anywhere other than this and the failure occurs because location B isn’t the default location for finished production in my view. However my colleague mentioned in 1. Is adamant this is a warehouse set up responsibility ref the output location in the resource group. Even though in production control.
my questions here are would this discrepancy reference location A on the warehouse and B on the output location cause this to be the problem. All others work perfect. And surely this is a production control module element?
