Barcode/QR Solution for events

Hi,

We need a barcoding solution for Dynamics 2013. Ideally this is what we would like:

1. Contact books onto an event through our web form (work already in place)

2. Contact is sent an auto - email through a workflow (can easily produce)

3. Barcode / QR code reference number is saved in the CRM (ie, unique identifier for this code)

4. Email contains a Barcode and QR code as well as booking details (can easily produce this)

This is to enable contacts to bring their barcode / QR code to our events and we will then scan these using barcode / QR scanners. We can upload this info and match it to the unique identifier against the contact and we will know the contact has attended.

Happy to consider other options, but think point 3 is the only part we are missing.

Am sure others must have come across the need for this.

Thanks

Matt

I hope you are using Dynamics CRM On-premises because otherwise its going to be really tough reproducing barcodes for an Online environment.

If you want to install barcodes, you need to install them on your CRM server. Go to control panel and search for FONTS. Install your respective barcode font there and restart the server.

The barcodes that will be sent in the email will contain some information like a unique identifier which will be unique to every record in CRM as well.

Since you gave a reference to my question that I posted in this forum, yes the solution worked for us.

We used SSRS reports to show a barcode along with other information. The report was printed on an ID card with a barcode and it was used for scanning and reporting purposes using CRM.

Bar Code scanning devices connect to a PC and emulate keyboard entry. Therefore just connect the scanner to the PC, and then whatever you scan will be submitted to the application like you had typed it in. Of course you will need to have the correct field on the screen for the scanner to send the info to just like you would if you were going to type it in.

Thanks for your reply to this Hamza. We will investigate this solution to see it works for us.

    Hi, Matt.

Have you ever worked it out? I wonder how can I accomplish the QR bar code reading process. Do I need another QR code scanner to help decode QR codes? I am almost a green hand here. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

    Arron
