Business Central Items syncing with Dataverse Sales Products -Reconnecting

OK, I've accepted that I'll have a Unit Group entry for every item I sync to Dataverse from BC -this seems very messy but not my call.  In troubleshooting, I deleted one of the Unit Group entries in Sales and tried everything I could but could not ever reconnect the BC Item with Sales.

In Troubleshooting I deleted the coupling from the Item and Unit Group and tried recreating several different ways.  I never could make it work.  My only option was to re-create the item and have it sync again.  Has anyone else been successful reconnecting an item after the coupled Unit Group in Sales is deleted?  I'd just like to have a better process than recreating everything if someone deleted the coupled Unit Groups unintentionally or otherwise.

Thanks,

Business Central Items syncing with Dataverse Sales Products -Reconnecting
Hi there! Good morning, evening, or afternoon - depending on where you are :) Hope you are well today!

This issue arises because the coupling between Business Central (BC) items and Dataverse Sales Unit Groups is critical for synchronization. Once the coupling is deleted, reconnecting the item IS FOR SURE a challenge (as you've noted) due to the way integration mappings are handled. Here are some steps and considerations to address this:

    1. Recreate the Coupling
    • If the Unit Group entry in Dataverse Sales has been deleted, you need to recreate it manually. Ensure that the Unit Group matches the original configuration used for the BC item.
    • After recreating the Unit Group, attempt to re-couple the BC item with the new Unit Group entry.
    2. Check Integration Table Mappings
    • Verify the integration table mappings in Business Central. Ensure that the mappings for items and unit groups are correctly configured.
    • If the mappings are missing or incorrect, update them to reflect the current setup in Dataverse.
    3. Use Full Resynchronization
    • Perform a full resynchronization between Business Central and Dataverse. This can help re-establish connections and resolve discrepancies caused by deleted records.
    • Navigate to Dataverse Connection Setup in BC and use the "Full Synchronization" option.
    4. Preventive Measures
    • To avoid accidental deletion of coupled Unit Groups, consider restricting permissions for users who manage Dataverse records.
    • Document the coupling process and train users on the importance of maintaining these connections.
    5. Custom Solutions
    • If recreating items is the only option, you might consider developing a custom solution to automate the process. This could involve scripting or using Power Automate to streamline item creation and coupling.
