Canadian Payroll & the Navigation Pane

I have a client using Canadian Payroll in Dynamics GP 2013 R2. They aren't using the HR Module, and they have US Payroll turned off altogether.  When clicking HR & Payroll in the Navigation Pane, the main HR & Payroll screen correctly shows the various Canadian Payroll components (Transactions, Cards, Reports, etc).  Everything below that on the Navigation Pane comes back empty, probably because they all relate to US Payroll, EXCEPT for reports.  For reports, every report category on the list (Excel Reports, Reporting Services Reports, SmartList Favorites, etc) returns an unfiltered list of reports (all types of reports for all modules).  Each of these categories loads 1211 reports - the exact same results as the All Reports List under Administration.

I created a shortcut that includes all of the Canadian Payroll reports.  The only problem is that it still has to load all of the irrelevant reports before filtering out the ones that I've selected, so it takes a long time to load.

We thought this might be a version-related issue, but have upgraded twice, and the problem still exists.

    Hi Kim,

This is strange because this is not what I see in mine. Everything on my navigation list for the HR and Payroll points to Canadian Payroll.

    Hi Kimberley,

There is definitely an issue with the Navigation List from the Canadian Payroll.. check this forum entry from the GPUG Collaborate:

In an essence and if you don't have access to this thread :

There definitely seems to be an issue with the way the Navigation list reports about the Excel reports in the HR&Payroll module.. not matter if Canadian PR installed or not.

Instead of returning only about 15 reports (including both US & CPY reports), it rolls thru the entire set of existing reports, all mixed up (SSRS, SmartList, Excel).

In GP2015 it's even worth at it crawls thru all the MR2012 reports that were generated... which can take some time before anything gets returned.

To me this looks like a bug and Microsoft probably forgot to apply some basic filtering under this Navigation List for Excel Reports (which BTW should not return the DataConnection reference file either, but this is a common problem with all modules).

You should report this to MS (as a Partner, they are more likely to listen to you :-) ).

PS: even when I apply filters to the Nav List to retrieve only Excel reports, it crawls thru the entire set of available reports before finally returning 15.

Beat, you know that this first posting was from Sept 2014 - I hope Kimberly has resolved this by now - good to see you are covering all the issues.
