Why do we use device registration tool for crm instead of using only Discovery URL and User Name?

Hi, Below are few benefits of using device registration tool
Why: To connect to CRM on-cloud, we need to specify the device credentials as well as username and password.
Features:
1. The tool creates a device id and device password, these credentials are not readable and you can’t really remember them
2. We can actually specify the username and password we like in the register operation
3. You can specify your own device id and device password for registration

It means we can use device password instead of using actual username and password
Well simple answer is NO. You still have to specify LIVE id and password. Device registration was required in earlier versions I believe [a security measure I guess]. When you run the utility like CrmSvcUtil against Microsoft Dynamics 365 (online) using the Microsoft account identity provider, you no longer have to supply the "deviceid" and "password" parameters from the command line. The utility registers your device automatically.
