Data Import Wizard in CRM 2013

Hi All,

I have a business requirement for data import from env1 to env2 keeping the entity relationships. I tried the Data Import Wizard feature which imported the data into respective entities but not the associations between them. eg. if entity1 has association wih entity2. when i imported the data i got the data in to entity1 and entity2 but when i browsed entity1->record1 it did not show the associated records with entity2-.record1, record2, record3.

Just wanted to confirm, is it possible using Data Import Wizard freature in CRM 2013 ? I know SSIS is an option here but in Production environment Client is not keen on connecting from Test Env to UAT/PROD environments because of infra policy limitations.

    Yes u can have related records using the OOTB Data import tool by using lookups as long ad u import the data in the correct order...ie accounts first followed by contacts, leads , opps etc...activities come last. Also use work flows to update statuses and use duplicate detection rules during you import to clean data.

    Hi All,

    Thanks for your response.

    Just a quick confirmation, this does not work for custom entities as the data map is not available. It only imports data into individual entities from resepective .xml/.csv files without links betwee entities. Entity1 is linked to 2 records(Entity2). Post import i got 1-record in Entity1 and 2-records in Entity2. When i gone to Entity1 and clicked on left navigation of Entity2 link, i did not get any records of Entity2(Which am expecting).

    Any other thoughts appreciated.
