Auto Numer field in Dynamics CRM 365 not working after importing into different instance

Hi,

I have a custom entity say TimeLog and I have created an auto number field using "Auto Number Manager" from Xrm Toolbox.

When I imported the entity to another CRM instance, Auto number stops working..

Can someone suggest If I need to include any (automatically created objects by crm internally) missing components so that my auto-numbering field works everywhere.. (on all crm v9 instances/organization)

D365 version I am using (target and source both) :  v9.0

    Hi Arif ,

    i dont know how this tool works behind the scenes, however i could imagine something is missing .

    Try to repeat setup task of "Auto Number Manager", probably updating (or re-creating) the autonumbering setting will setup well.

    Hi Francesco,

    Thanks for your suggestion. But the tragedy is that I have to give the solution to someone who can "at their will" use wherever they want..  We cannot ask them to do it i.e. Run Auto Number Manager" for every CRM instance they install/import the solution on..

    I think this feature is still in beta version and does not support the thing I need yet.

    Hi Arif,

    in this case, if you have some time, the best approach would be to change system; use oob autonumber features or get some ready-to-go personalization (if you search for it online, you will find a couple).

    This is unfortunately a know bug that appeared after the release of 9.0.

    The solution files simply does not contain the AutoNumberFormat property of the attributes.

    It has been reported to MS, but please create your own support issue with MS to highlight the problem more.

    If you are interested in how the Auto Number Manager plugin for XrmToolBox works, I know just about everything ;)
