Importing Accounts Taking a Long Time

I'm currently on Dynamics 2016 Online and uploading a .csv file with about 33,000 records in it. However, it has been 6 days since I started the import processing and the operation is still running - is this considered normal?

I can view the records that have been imported so far but there is no good indicator of the status as it only shows me that there are 5000+ records that have already been imported. Is there a better way I can view exactly how much of the 33,000 records have been imported?

    Hi,

You can go ahead with Data Synchronisation studio for data import into CRM online.

6 days!? No, that's not considered normal. Even at one record per second, the import process should finish within a day.

If you list the records and sort by the Created On field, how many record are going in per minute?

The XrmToolBox tool set provides a record counter. http://www.xrmtoolbox.com/download.html

My guess is that there are one or more synchronous plug-ins or workflows that are running for each inserted record and slowing down the import.

Couldn't find the exact reason but the XrmToolBox record counter was pretty useful. I found that, for some reason, the imports have stopped at ~17,000.

I'm just going to divide the spreadsheet into files with 5000 records each to see if that will help.

RE: Importing Accounts Taking a Long Time

Did you ever resolve this issue?  I have a batch of 17000 records that is taking 12 hours to import, which seems high to me and is unacceptable for our project.  We have other entities with 45000+ records that only take 2 hours.

I know it's most likely workflows or other triggers. Are there any performance metrics I can look at to see what may be causing the slowness (track workflows, etc)?

Thanks for any update you can give.

There is no way that system will take 6 days to import 33k records.

May be you can do advanced find based on created on date and/or owner field and export the result into excel sheet and validate.

In my previous project we used to import excel sheet successfully having around 25K records and were validating the import data after exporting the newly imported data through advanced find

The other option would be Open import job from Setting---> Data Management ---> Import--->Select & open imported file---> Under common navigation , able to view the Fully imported or partial imported records--->select Export to excel and then validate
