Resco Mobile CRM vs Field Service Mobile Apps

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Good day,

I hope this is the correct place to be asking this question.

I have been experiencing some inconsistencies when using the Field Service mobile app (both on Windows 10 and iOS), especially when using the mobile reports feature. For example, images that have been attached as an annotation are not properly displayed on the mobile report.

On the Resco Mobile CRM app, however, everything works as expected.

Does anyone know if/when the Field Service app will be updated to support the latest features? (Or if these features are within the scope of the Field Service app in the first place.)

Thanks,

       BGS

If you are using Field Services, install Resco Field Services solution instead of Resco Mobile CRM as there are bound issues and resco's support is not that great.

were you able to find any difference between both application? cause I've been testing for a while now and they look the same. the only difference is that field service application is two versions behind.

Ah, you are using Mobile Reports. I might have a test of it later :)

    Try something like this:37518.Untitled.png

This is suppose to add the signature (or any annotation that has an image and matching title) to the report.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work in the Field Service app.

(Also, if you want to have a go at it, try getting fetch tables and fetch table lookups working in a mobile report. Apparently they only work in the Resco app as well.)

I never had an issue of displaying images on the Field Service app. How have you configured it in woodford? Although its strange that you say its working in the Resco Mobile app.

Yeah Field Service is essentially a cut down version of the Resco Mobile app due to an agreement both Resco and Microsoft have.

    Hey Thomas,

The main use case was displaying an attached annotation. (Say, a customer signature that needs to be added to a report.)

On the Field Service app the image block just shows up empty. But the Resco app will show everything correctly.

Yeah, probably not worth putting a support ticket in.

Heh, it seems on my end that the Resco app can do everything that the Field Service app can do and covers all of our use cases. (The UI looks the same and everything and it connects to CRM.)

    Hi,

Could you be more specific regarding reports? Maybe show some screenshots.

As for knowing when the Field Service app will get updated to support higher versions is unknown. I have tried contacting Microsoft in the past regarding it and it seems that the communication between Resco and Microsoft are non existent. You could try setting up a support ticket and see what Microsoft say but I never had much luck.

But I do agree that the Resco Mobile CRM apps runs pretty well but it unusable for Field Service users as it doesn't communicate to the CRM server and so a lot of basic functionality is lost.
