Container setting up for Inbound process - PO receiving box wise at location

Posted on by 55

Scenario:

item X has physical dimension 10x10x10
container has dimension = 10x10x12
so 10qty of X item can be put in 1 container.
If there is 11 qty then should go to next conainer.
Containers are lying there in warehouse location.

*Solution*

Define physcial dimension of item > warehouse mgmt tab> phy dim group id
Unit sequance group from "EA to PL"
Create container group
create container type - with above dimension
create location profile id ( no need to give dimension here)
create locations
assoicate location profile in po inbound location directive
add mobile device menue item
create PO for 9 qty = it will allow in conatiner
create po for 11 qty = it will throw error.

*But this one is not working*.
Where are we missing *or its not possible in standard Ad wh mgmt*.

*target* = *Conatiner size VS item size fitment*

I have the same question (0)

It looks like there is functionality coming that allows you to define what the dimension is used for i.e. storage or packing.

There's not a lot of information about this one, but it sounds like what you need.

    AX version :10.0.9 (10.0.383.20009)

    D365 F&O

Error message : No error, but unable to setup

My question is in two phases.

Want to know it feasible or not, if possible then how to do it.

    Is there any workaround.

    Question reframing.

    For purchase receiving (inbound)

    Item dimension = 10x10x10

    Container dim =  100x100x100

    location profile dim = 1000x1000x1000

As per above dimension location profile can contain 10 container, 10 items can be stored in 1 container.

Location profile should have 100 items max.

    What we have done

    - Defined physical dimension group to item code.

    - Unit seq group to EA-PL

    - Created container type = 100x100x100

    - No flexi volume of container.

-crated location profile = with dimension 1000x1000x1000

    - location directive  = mapped location profile.

-created 10 locations under location profile ( There is no limitation)

    - Work templates having two stages pick and put only.

-Enabled mobile device menue item and device menue.

Crated purchase order for that item with 15 quantity.

    Expected result

System should accept 10 quantity in location 1 and remaining quantity should go to location2

    Actual result:

System does not take logical decision by validating item dimension vs location dimension, it gives always location 1 for n number of quantity.

If we give stocking limit to container for example stocking limit set to 3 , then only three items will be in location1 and rest will go to another location

in this case too, system not validating item dimension vs avaialble voulme of the location.

Is there any option to put this validation or its not possible. Any work around plesae.?

    Good Morning Rakesh Verma,

Can you also let us know the exact AX version that you operate (build no)?

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

Hi Rakesh, What is the exact error message? Also, how is your work template setup?
