Unable to pick lot no in warehouse shipment

Hello Community,

We are unable to select a specific lot number from item tracking in the warehouse shipment line. The location in question has Directed Put-away and Pick enabled.

Relevant screenshots are attached for reference.

Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Regards,
Remya

    Hi Mr. Alex A,

Thank you for the responses. Require Pick, Enable Require Shipment and Enable Bin Mandatory are already enabled, kindly refer the screenshot.

*If none of that works, then the whole issue is because of the setup is incomplete on the Location Card:

    Your setup:

    • Directed Pick and Put-away = ON
    • Require Shipment = OFF
    • Require Pick = OFF
    • Bin Mandatory = OFF

    •

This combination creates a contradiction because:

    • Directed Pick and Put-away  needs bin-level operations, with Warehouse Picks and Warehouse Shipments.
    • Having Require Pick and Require Shipment OFF disables the Warehouse Pick & Shipment that Directed Put-away depends on.
    • Bin Mandatory = OFF precludes the bin logic that Directed Put-away needs.

T do a Warehouse Shipment with Directed Pick and Put-away, on the Location Card you should:

    1. Enable Require Pick
    2. Enable Require Shipment
    3. Enable Bin Mandatory

    4.
**If you don't want to use all these features, then turn off Directed Pick and Put-away, and post your shipments from the Sales Order.

    Regards,
    Alex A

Also, you should be using a Warehouse Pick.

*However, you need to Require Pick on the Location Card.

Can you show us the Item Tracking Lines in the Warehouse Pick if you are still having a problem, and please provide the full text of any error that you receive.

You're trying to use a Whse Internal Pick for a Warehouse Shipment, which is incorrect.

    Hello Remya,

Try setting the Quantity first? Try deleting the pick and make a new one.
Your Lot Tracking setup seems fine.

Hi Mr. Dhiren Nagar and Mr. Luke Mathew,

    Thank you for your responses.

As per Mr. Dhiren Nagar's suggestion, I have unpublished the custom extension and retried the shipment processes. However, the issue still persists. Please find the attached screenshots for your reference.

Additionally, none of my custom extensions have ever used Codeunit 6500.

    Regards,
    Remya

    Hi,

I've seen the Screenshots that you've attached and found that Item tracking code is correctly defined on the Item card.
Also for the Item tracking code the Lot Warehouse Tracking is enabled so all the setups are correctly defined based on requirement of the standard system setup.

So now if you are getting this error it means that any event has been subscribed in the code or you are facing this issue in some latest or new deployment where this can be a possible bug. If you could check the call stack and see if Error Call stack points to CheckWhseItemTrkgSetup procedure line no 5 and codeunit 6500 "Item Tracking Management".

If this is the case kindly uninstall all the custom extensions and check the case also see if you can identify any events subscribed in code for the codeunit 6500 "Item Tracking Management" or table 6565 "Item Tracking Setup".

    Regards,
    Dhiren.

Thanks for sharing the details and screenshots that definitely helps. Since the location has Directed Put-away and Pick enabled, the system usually restricts lot selection directly on the warehouse shipment line because it expects the handling to go through warehouse activities (like picks). You might want to double-check whether the lot tracking is set up correctly on the item and if a pick document has been created for that shipment. In many cases, the selection becomes available once the proper warehouse pick is processed.

This typically occurs in Business Central when you try to create or process a Warehouse Shipment or Internal Pick for an item that requires item tracking (lot or serial numbers), but item tracking is not enabled or defined for that item master in the warehouse context. Please check on the Item master under whether Item tracking code is defined or not.
