Different Procurement category hierarchy for different department in same organization

We are using dynamics 365 finance and operations

For purchasing we have three department.

Like Facility management, IT, Stationary . application not yet live. We are in the process implementation. UAT is finished.

So I would like to know for these three department we can created three different Procurement category.

Our vendor suggested to use “Procurement category hierarchy” to purchase all the item for all the department.

Is it possible to create Procurement hierarchy like this :

Procurement category hierarchy-IT

Procurement category hierarchy-Facility management

Procurement category hierarchy-Admin

Yes, you can set up the hierarchies as you stated. In order to only allow users to order from a specific hierarchy you will also need to set up purchasing policies in Procurement and sourcing.

I have added one more purchasing policies, but I don’t know how I can add different procurement category in Category hierarchy role association.

If you can help me to setup this that will be highly appreciated.

one category hierarchy role can be associared to only one at a point in time

would suggest to create more categories

Hi SANTOSHTRIPATHI,

Is your requirement that IT department just purchases IT category, Facility management just purchases Facility and Stationary just purchase Stationary?

If so, you can create purchase policy by department.

1. Add department to Procurement internal control in Organization hierarchy purposes.

2. Create purchase policy with the department parameter and then select a department.

3. Create different policies for different departments as your requirements.

4. Assign the user to correct department.

Purchase policy just works for PR, user can purchase all categories in PO.

I have added the department in the procurement category

But when I am selecting the department in the organization hierarchy I am not getting any department. Where I can add this department

from where i can add this department

I think u not understand my questions fully. if i created different category hierarchy i can select product from any one of this hierarchy ??? we have three different department for purchasing. is it possible to create different "Procurement category hierarchy" for three different

Hi,

Could you please use an example to describe your requirement?

For the department in purchase policy, you need to create and insert the department hierarchy in Organization hierarchies.

It is recommended to use USMF demo data to test first.
