Hi All,

I know RMS EOL is 2021, but here is my question, will we still be able to activate RMS license over the internet ofter 2021 with new license we already bought before the EOL, or they will shutdown the activation server completely so no more activatin

    Hi Michael!  The word that I have from Microsoft is that both the phone and online license activation options will be turned off by Microsoft. No new or existing RMS POS licenses can be activated.

    Hi Kevin,

    So that also means no moving an RMS POS license from an outdated computer to a new computer after that time. Good food for thought. How will that affect RITE's after EOL support plan?

    Online activation via the internet never appears to work for me.

    Hi Rick! Unless there is a way to image a drive that does not require the license to be re-activated, we are planning that there will not be a way to activate RMS POS licenses after July 2021. We do have some customers who are buying an extra license or two and installing on backup computers if they plan on using RMS beyond July 2021.

    This is terrible news - I just figured they would stop supporting it, I didn't consider the ramifications of my 'valid' license numbers no longer unlocking the software I paid for.  There's no doubt that I'll need to upgrade computers as systems crash/fail/become outdated.  Even pre-installing copies on 'new' computers as a backup will backfire as those computers will become dated as well and I won't be able to unlock HQ CLIENT connections for them...

      I hate the direction that all software is going where you not only get the privilege of 'buying' it for an outrageous amount but then also get hit with rent it per month/year on top of that.

    Are you guys still able to activate by phone call.  Online not working but i cant seem to find anyone who will activate it over the phone.  

    Is there a special number. The number given by the activation system for Ireland is not helping as it is all automated and none of the options cover RMS

    Hi Shane - I've been hearing of similar issues here is the US. Customer replaces a computer running RMS point of sale, re-installs RMS POS, can't get RMS activated online or via phone. Our tech team has been able to activate via phone but not online recently. Our tech team advises to "call then say Business products, then say other business products - press zero if needed to reach a live person". 800-348-0254 option 3.

    Managed to get through to one of the US numbers and was looked after very well. Obviously restricts me to US work hours but better than nothing.

    The next generation, from Microsoft is Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.  It can perform any of the functions RMS could perform, runs in Microsofts Azure Cloud, full system runs on any PC, Smart Phone, or Device, retail and wholesale, and has full financials.  It is amazing software at a similar price point as RMS.
