Importing managed solution doesn't overwrite form

Hi together,

Today I've got problem with solutions and it's a mystery to me.

First I explain our system:
We use three system/environments:
1. DEV
2. TEST
3. LIVE/PRODUCTION

We use
unmanaged solutions in DEV
managed solutions in TEST and in LIVE.

(as always: I cloned a patch in DEV, made the changes to the chosen entity, exported the patch (managed) into TEST to test it, deleted it from test, cloned a solution on DEV, exported the solution and imported it to TEST and LIVE)

Since some weeks one field doesn't change the display name in LIVE, but it's correct in TEST. (even after importing with the overwrite methode)
Today I added two fields to the opportunity form - they are displayed in TEST and LIVE, but in LIVE in a wrong order.

I checked the customization.xml-file of the managed solution I exported from DEV and the order was correct there.

Does anybody have an idea what happend and how we can solve this problem? Shall I change it on LIVE manually? Or what could I do maybe?

Best regards and many thanks in advance and ideas

Mick

    P.S.:

The Opportunity form is a customized form and not the original form.

    Hi Mick,

Please see if following Articles describe the behavior your are seeing: msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334576.aspx

"Changes to entity forms and the sitemap won’t be overwritten even when the overwrite option is selected. Refer to Merge form customizations and Merge navigation (SiteMap) customizations for guidance about managing changes. Some manual customization may be required to merge unmanaged customizations into changes included in an update to a managed solution."

This one talks about form merging: msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg309329.aspx

    Hope this helps,

    Radu

Hi Mick_4711, I am experiencing the same issue, I change display name for several forms that were already in the test and live environment/our system is identical to yours in this case/. Interestingly 4 forms display names are changed correctly, Account and Contact are not changed. So I was wondering how merging worked? Can you kindly explain it in steps?

    Hi Armine,

sorry for answering late. I was on holidays.

I tried to merge, but this was not the best way for me, because I had to merge it with the original form. Unfortunately there were required fields our users don't use and the fields couldn't be deleted. So I copied the forms (save as), changed the things I wanted to change, set them as active and the old ones as inactive. That worked fine for me.

    Best regards

    Mick
