RE: Differences between AX 2012 Retail POS and Dynamics 365 POS

    Hi Naru,

in short there are different ERP systems behind these POSes.

    1. AX 2012 is one ERP

    2. Dynamics 365 Commerce is another ERP.

MPOS is UWP app, in D365 it is already considered depreciated and replaced by Store Commerce app.

CPOS is POS in browser, does not require installation. Functionality is 90% the same as for MPOS.

RE: Differences between AX 2012 Retail POS and Dynamics 365 POS

    Hi Naru M,

Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail POS is the point of sale (POS) program for Microsoft Dynamics AX. POS tasks are performed by using a POS register. The graphical user interface (GUI) is easy to use and can be set up to meet the requirements of many industries, such as food service, fashion, and grocery.

The two types of point of sale or POS in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Retail Management Solution are MPOS and CPOS. MPOS is Modern Point of Sale and CPOS is Cloud Point of Sale. There is no offline functionality when it comes to Cloud POS. It has a unique design that allows you to pair it up with the hardware station. The MPOS, on the other hand, is a POS app that one can access with ease on tablets, and PCs. Migrating from MPOS to CPOS is a good option because Cloud POS can run on any platform since the browser accesses the application code from the CPOS server, but it can become a time-consuming task if you do not follow the standard process.
