Hi! Do you have any experience where the Transaction No. of your General Ledger entries restart to 1?

As shown below, our Transaction No. already reached 3868862 (list is sorted descending based on Transaction No. )

However, if new transactions are posted, it shows one digit Transaction Nos.

If you've experienced this, how did you resolve it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

The transaction number of the G/L entry table is the G/L register No.

The G/L register contains G/L entries related to the same document/ transaction or journal. This number is not the same of your General Ledger entry number.

The transaction number should not restart unless there has been some development or an interface to synch entries, for example, from a CRM.

As Alfredo say you should check if anyone have done any development on your system or if anyone have tempered with the data from an external system.

The field in the standard system should be named Entry no. so the first thing i would look at is if the Transaction No. field is a field added to your database or if someone renamed the original Entry no. field.

    Hi Alfredo,

    Thank you for this response.

We do have some customizations (extensions) made in the system. We also thought that this was brought by our customizations. So, I've also tried uninstalling our extensions then process a transaction. it  still shows one digit Transaction No.

Do you have any other ideas in relation to this?

    Hi Inge,

    Thank you for your response.

I checked that through Inspect Pages and Data, it shows that the Transaction No. is from the Base Application.

Entry No. is also from the Base Application, which is a different field from the Transaction No.

We did some customizations (extensions) in the system. I also tried to uninstall the extensions and process again a transaction but the Transaction No. still shows one digit. Do you have any other ideas for this?

The transaction number is reset for every fiscal year if i interpret the documentation from Microsoft correctly. But i can not see that it has happend like that in the companies i have checked.

And it can be set in the journal line as well as far as i can see.

    learn.microsoft.com/.../transaction-numbers

So it should not be confused with the Entry no. that is the actual primary key on the General ledger entry table.

Do you import transactions from an external system that might set this transaction no. during import?
