Hi, can anyone tell me whether there is a way to either show the field description on eg the lead form or to show a tip to help guide the users when completing the forms? many thanks.

If you use the Business Process Flow as Guide, is that not enough?
If you just need the Field Description, you can create the field Multi lines text, then everytime the user open the form, by the help of Business Rules, you can filled the value onLoad form using the guide.
Last time I did it to give the Proposed Solution for everytime the salesperson open Opportunity Form.

Another way, create a simple HTML, you can use simple HTML Editor.
Create your own guide, then put that HTML as Web Resource in the Form.

You can go to Customize the System->Entity> Fields and put your tool tip data in Description on each field. That text wil come as Tooltip on fields.
