How do I check what windows user group the web client is using? Or if it in enabled?

I have a Windows 2008 R2 server with a group GPWebClient for the users. I added 2 users into this group and I can't log on to the web client with both of them.

    Hi Annabelh,

Are you specify this group name "GPWebClient" while installing Web client?

    see: step 7 in chapter 9 (www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx)

If you not specify this group name at the time of installation, you can't log on to the web client with the users you added in that group.

you need to add this group "GPWebClient" to the web client installation group.

    Thanks! Soma

    Hello Annabelh,

Greetings and thank you for using the community.

After finalizing the installation of the Web Client the System started a configuration wizard that creates a new database into your SQL Server, by default the database name is: GPWEBCLIENTSESSIONCENTRAL, inside this database there is a table called: ServiceSecurity, locate a record with "Service Name" of SessionService and GroupID called "GPWebUserAccounts".

The "Account" column for this record represents the Group Name you used during the installation.

    Hope that this helps.

RE: GP 2013 Web Client Users group

I was asked to look at a server that was setup for testing and wasn't involved in the installation. So I didn't know what the group name was. I found the web client wasn't working at all. So it has taken me a bit to get it fixed.

I see that the ServiceSecurity table has a group name that is a domain group and this doesn't work. If I change this to a local group it doesn't work. If I change this to a local user it works. I am not sure what is going on with it. I can logon to the web client using the local user but this it not ideal.

So if this table has the group name in the GPWebUserAccounts record then it should work? Is there some other coniguration issue I am missing?

RE: GP 2013 Web Client Users group

I had this problem also.  I checked and the table had the correct entries

The problem was I was trying to log in with the username alone; it had to be prefixed with the domain name and "\"

Also, the username set up in the GPWebUserAccounts group also need to be an Administrator (add it to the administrator group). That worked for me

    Hope this helped
