Qty. on Asm. Component not driving Purchase Advice

I have an Item (Type = Inventory) that is a component in various Assembly BOMs. In the Item's Inventory fast tab, I can see the qty allocated for use in Assembly Orders.

My reorder point is set to 24, so I expect the system to trigger a line on my Purchase Advice report telling me to order more of the item (26 on hand - 20 allocated to Assembly Orders = 6 left). However, the item doesn't show up on the Purchase Advice report.

The configuration of the item in question is the exact same as other items that behave as expected, i.e. show up on the Purchase Advice report. The only difference is the other items are components on Production Orders (rather than Assembly Orders).

Does Purchase Advice treat Assembly Order components different than Production Order components?

Hi,

Could this be down to locations? Here are a couple of things to check.

1. Have you set a location code on all the assembly orders and assembly lines.

2. Have you stock keeping units created for the components items and have the reorder points been set on these?

Here is an example I used.

Component item 1047 has a stock keeping unit for location EAST.
