Workflow Owership

Is it possible to create a workflow that will keep the ownership of an Account when a user click the Contact + icon.

I tied creating one but it did not work

It worked if I ran the workflow by clicking on the workflow link

any help would be great

    Hi Damon,

    Try to register the workflow by auto trigger.

    (onCreate ), you see in the right, will see the Start When.

    Because if you dont have this auto-trigger, it means only as on-deman process (users have to click the Run Workflow link)

    Then, create a step, check condition, if Company Name contains data,

    then assign Contact to the Account owner.

    You need to check to avoid any error, let's say the Contact is stand alone or independent contact without Account, then no need to assign.

    But, it also works if you create a contact not from + button, it will work as well as long as the Contact has parent Account (Company Name).

    Also - uncheck the ' run in the background' - this will mean it will run before the screen is refreshed on saving.

    I must be blind for I don't see (onCreate ), you see in the right, will see the Start When.

    You need to check Start When ''Record is created'. This actually is checked by default.

    Hi,

    1. You can either use REAL time workflow (and not async)

    2. or customize the relationship between account and contact. on the relationship you can MAP fields that move from parent entity to child entity

    (aka from account to contact) and you can map the owner field on both ends.

    mind that the second option only works from UI. while you will need to use either workflow or plugin to do the same when records are created from webservice.
