Hi all,

Just after some advice on best add on for extra field level security, as with a lot of other people, we want to be able to restrict certain fields on various elements within early Business Central 14.

For example, some fields on a customer card, or that certain users can only see certain GL Accounts.

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

As of they now there is no out of the box feature and extension devt. is needed for field level security. We have implemented a solution for that.

For the GL account requirement why not try security filters: docs.microsoft.com/.../security-filters

Specific fields being hidden could be achieved with profile configuration if you disable personalisation. Development is probably the faster route though.

    RE: Field Level Security

We're using Easy Security in BC14, but it doesn't work on newer versions of BC.

When we upgrade, we'll likely go with the solution from MVP Erik Hougaard and E-Foqus:

    https://www.efoqus.ca/advanced-cloud-security-for-microsoft-dynamics-365-business-central/

    https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/dynamics-365-business-central/pubid.efoqus-5058796%7Caid.security%7Cpappid.7c4b9095-058f-4464-a4d0-104cc305e68c?tab=overview

I'll be watching to see what other solutions folks are using.

We are evaluating the 2 following options. Each has their own pros/cons.

Fenwick is easier to setup and use.

    efoqus has some flexibilities.

    Hi MahGah,

    Which one you have selected?

    Please share you feedback.

My organization is also upgrading from BC 14 to the newer version BC 19 but, only Field level security is the blocker. Before we were using Easy security in the BC 14 and the earlier version.

    Hi Muhammad Noman Siddiq

We used Fenwick solution for the ease of use and setup and for the "first write" option (user can create a document but  after that requires special permission to edit and modify)

But if you are in North America and you do not want to deal with Australia's hour then efoqus is a better option. In addition, since it has more flexibility it is a better case for complex setup,  Finally, many north America partners support efoqus more than fenwick.

You should be able to limit the data to a specific table using 'Security Filter' on the Permission Sets. This will let the user only to see the filtered list on their view restricting access/view for other data.

But it is not possible to have field level security out-of-the-box.

    Thank you for your response.

Efoqus is only for Cloud version or it will support on -premises version?
