Cost Center table?

Hello,  I've been working on some queries to pull financial data out of a Dynamics GP database.  So far I've just been working with the sample database (database name TWO, company name Fabrikam, Ltd.) that ships with Dynamics 2010.  I won't have access to my clients data until they convert to Dynamics which is supposed to happen soon.

I've been able to figure out quite a a bit on my own from other posts here and from other websites in terms of which tables to locate financial data in.

However, one thing I haven't been able to determine is where Cost Center information is stored and how this ties into table GL00100?  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Also, does anyone know if Fabrikam. Ltd. contains Cost Center data?

    Hi Allan,

    I think the Cost Cente you are referring to is one of the account segments in Fabrikams chart of accounts.

    This is not a set value. You can define what you want to call a particular account segment (Tools >> Setup >> Company >> Account Format). In Fbrikam's set up, one of these just happens to be called Cost Centre.

    In terms of the GL00100, your account segment values will be listed under ACTNUMBR_1, ACTNUMBR_2, etc. - each seperate field is devoted to one of the account segments - its length being dependent on what you defined in the account format set up window.

    Whichever account segment you have nominated (or called) the Cost Centre, the you can sort the GL00100 table by this column.

    Fabrikam will not contain just cost centre data, as such. A whole account may contain data...and this accounts Cost Centre segment may be a particular value. Its not that GP doesn't have GL cost centre functionality, it does, but its within a very user definable account format stucture.
