Dear all

I have been wasting a lot of time trying to migrate sandbox to production, I almost tried every tool available but never worked. surely i am not following the right approach.

I need to know the best methodology to move from sandbox to production (CONFIGURATION AND DATA). And which one comes first, configuration or data?

Please advise.

Thanks.

    Hi Ahmad,

Not sure why you are migrating your sandbox to production, I hope you know if required you can promote your sandbox to production , dynamicscrmcoe.com/switch-instance-type-crm-online-sandbox-production

Back to your quesiton you can use different tools like SSIS toolkit to migration your data, it's really good tool. First you need to deploy your configuration (customization) before moving to your data.

    Hope it will help.

    Hi Ahmed,

I agree with Mahen. If your sandbox & product are on same tenant then you can just simply switch your sandbox to production. Or you can take a backup & restore. Any specific reason you want to do migration from sandbox to production.

Best migration approach depends upon what are your trying to migrate, how much customization/ processes etc you have, how much data you have, do you want to migrate activities etc. Based on these you could choose from various different options for migration. No doubt SSIS toolkit is best ut if you just have few data you could even use excel export/ import (considering that you have same customization).

    Hope this helps.

thanks a lot, i did not know that i can promote sandbox to Production. it is great although i did not try it yet.

secondly, can i take a copy of production to sandbox? can this be done from the Admin center or i have to use another tool?

    regards.

Yes, you can create a copy of you production to sandbox. You have 2 type of copy i.e. full copy & minimal copy. This is done through admin center.

    Refer this: docs.microsoft.com/.../copy-instance

    Hope this helps.

What do you mean when you say configurations? Do you mean customizations (entities, views etc) or your own customc configuration records. If it is customizations then you first move customizations from your source to target using export solution.

    Read about solutions here- msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334576.aspx

If you meant some custom configuration records then you can use SSIS.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ravi and Mahender,

I have tried to download SSIS toolkit from Kingwaysoft, but it is licensed version, is there any way to get trial of it?

    Regards,
