Overtime Calculation

Posted on by 65

We are using MS GP10 and can not get the regular rate of pay to calculate correctly when we have overtime and a bonus payment that encompasses a prior pay period, month or quarter.  We have been working with our consultant and have still not been able to get it to calculate properly.  Does anyone else pay bonuses and recalculate the regular rate of pay according to the FLSA regulations?  If you are able to make it work correctly, please share with me how.

Thanks!

    Hi all,

There is a half-way decent paper explaining the rules at:

    www.dol.gov/.../whdfs23.pdf

It covers what John was saying.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Here is another way of thinking abut the problem.

If you pay a bonus based on Salary, or straight hourly rates then according to FLSA you have to go back and calculate the necessary overtime. This you already know. However, if you dig deeper into FLSA you find that if you base the bonus on ALL INCOME paid to the employee INCLUDING OVERTIME durning the time frame of the bonus it is not necessary to recaluclate the overtime because the overtime is alreay in the bonus calculation.

    hope this helps,

    Re: Overtime Calculation

    Pamela,

The problem is that Dynamics GP overtime basically has one rule.  You might want to check out our Overtime Hours Rules integrity-data.com/Product-Overtime-Hours-Rules_9.aspx

Overtime Hours Rules allows users to easily manage overtime rules and configure multiple methods of calculating overtime hours for employees. The user is able to accommodate rules that may vary based on employee, department, position, or rules that are unique to certain states and companies. Overtime is managed on the basis of day, week, pay period, or all three combined. Overtime Hours Rules then saves the user time by automatically calculating overtime during the payroll process.

If you have additional questions or would like a demo don't hestitate to contact me.
