Find entries error using Print post BC v26.1 upgrade

(2) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 126
After upgrading to BC v26.1 from v25.5, this error occurs wherever you try to Find & Print Journal Entries (Chart of Accounts, Posted General Journal, etc.).

Here are the error details to help troubleshooting:

Error message:
Rendering output for the report failed and the following error occurred: The Hidden expression for the tablix ‘ProductionOrder’ refers to the field ‘ProductionOrderStatusCaption’. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current dataset scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified dataset scope. Letters in the names of fields must use the correct case.

Workaround though not ideal is to open the entries needed and use Open In Excel to get the entries that way.   Any ideas on the error - bug?

This was a known issue in Business Central v26.1 related to incorrect case usage in report dataset fields (e.g. ProductionOrderStatusCaption).

🔧 The issue has been resolved in update v26.2, so upgrading to v26.2 or later should fix the error.

The issue still exists after applying June 2025 BC v26.2 update!    After updating from BC v25.5 to v26.1, the issue surfaced.  v26.2 does not fix it.  Easily able to replicate in multiple environments.

Is there MSFT published document of this issue and confirmed version which is fixed?

After upgrading to Business Central version 26.1, a "Find and Print Journal Entries" error can occur when trying to print journal entries from pages like Chart of Accounts or Posted General Journal. The error message indicates a problem with the report rendering and specifically points to a field mismatch in the report's hidden expression, stating the field is not within the current dataset scope according to the Microsoft Dynamics Community. This issue is resolved in Business Central version 26.2.
