Missing Microsoft Dynamics CRM security role CRM 2016 on-premise

There are duplicate contacts i am trying to merge as a System Administrator but it would not let me merge them. I have re-assigned them to CRM Admin as the new owners but still cant merge. The previous owners and creators are no longer with the company.

I get the error below when i try to merge the records;

Missing Microsoft Dynamics CRM security role

Access to Microsoft Dynamics CRM has not yet been fully configured for this user. The user needs at least one security role before you can continue

    Did you check to make sure both original and duplicated contacts' users are re-assigned?

    Also, have you check the accounts links to those contacts to see if those are expired users as well?

    Also, is there a detail error log you can provide?

    When you merge the records, the child records gets moved to the master records. So it is poosible that the error is appearing for some other records related to the contact and not the contact itself.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Tyler, I reassigned the records created by the disabled users only. Unfortunately, there is no error log generated.

    Apparently, there is still something that is owned by the disabled user under thos contacts. look at the records and see if there is any lookup or subgrid records and see who owns those.
