Function of "SN No. Info. Must Exist" in Outbound. Can we Turn it On?

Hi

In Item Tracking Code what is the purpose of SN No. Info. Must Exist in Outbound? Can we turn it On after using that Code to MFG items? What are exact actions that this function does? 

Any good document that you can share?

    The SN information card must have been created before shipping out the item if you have this setting on.

    The card itself is simply a short card view related specifically to the tracking record. It doesn’t contain a lot of extra information but it is commonly extended to add any additional data users want to store against a lot or serialised item.

    I don’t think you’ll be able to add the requirement to a tracking code that has already been used.

    Hi Guy

    Thanks for info. I am having issue with some inventory shipping and suggestion was to turn on this function. I tried in Sandbox and looks like I can turn it on but I am not sure about future complication doing this.  I tried to find a good document here without any success.

    Do you know if someone has done this before or even it is possible at all or it is advisable to not do this.

    I can’t foresee it giving you any problems as such.

    i seem to recall one of the new features has been to have tracking information cards created automatically but I may be making that up. Will check later.

    The biggest issue is that you used to have to create them manually. It’s a very simple process but if you’re processing a high volume of transactions, it was extra button clicks so typically needed development to enhance data input.

    If you are going to turn that on, you probably want to turn on the auto-create SN Info Card as well.  This will ensure the card is available prior to the shipment.

    That being said, I do not know how turning on that requirement would resolve any shipping issues.  If anything it could slow down shipment of Items that don't have the SN Info cards created yet.

    Thanks Guy and Ben for your help here. I will test in Sandbox to see if it is going to cause and issue or not or even solve our problem or not.

    It is an issue with the 3rd party app but they cannot even reproduce the issue in their test and they thought this may solve the issue. Thanks
