Business Central: Slow Posting After Latest Update — Anyone Facing This Issue?

Hi all,
After the latest Dynamics 365 Business Central Online update, we’ve noticed that posting Sales Orders, Purchase Invoices, and General Journals has become much slower (from 2–3 seconds to 15–25 seconds). Some users even experience timeouts.

What we’ve checked:
  • Disabled custom extensions to rule out event subscriber issues
  • Reviewed telemetry (AL execution spikes during posting)
  • Checked job queue load and session concurrency
  • Cleared user personalization
  • Verified Posting Setup & Posting Groups
Is anyone else seeing slow posting performance after the recent update? Any tips on what to check in telemetry or known issues to look for?

Thanks!

Hey everyone, You’ve already done the right checks (disabled extensions, looked at telemetry, etc.). Here are the most useful next steps:

    • In the Admin Center, check for any ongoing or failed background operations / updates that could be impacting performance.

    • Look closely at your telemetry for spikes in database calls or long-running queries during posting (newer versions have better visibility for this).

    • Check if any event subscribers (even from Microsoft base code or recently updated apps) are firing more often after the update  especially around posting routines.

    • Test posting in a clean sandbox environment (no custom extensions at all) to confirm if it’s environment-specific.                       Microsoft has been releasing performance fixes in minor updates (e.g., around cost adjustment, journal posting, etc.), so make sure your environment is on the latest available build.

Hi, You can try Performance Profiler first.

    Hello,
Yes, a few people do see posting get slower after an update, but the main thing is to prove where the time moved. Since you already ruled out extensions, the next checks should be long-running AL methods, long-running SQL queries, and database locks/waiting, because those are the main Microsoft signals for BC Online performance issues during posting. I’d also check whether heavy web service traffic, job queue activity, or concurrent sessions increased at the same time, since those can slow posting even when setup looks fine. Best practical step: capture one slow posting with the Performance Profiler or scheduled performance profiler, and for a short repro window enable Additional logging from Help & Support so you can catch SQL that is frequent but not individually “long-running.” If the slowdown is consistent across Sales, Purchase, and G/L posting right after the update, that usually points more to SQL/locking/platform behavior than to business setup. If telemetry clearly shows the regression started after the update and you can reproduce it on demand, I’d raise it with Microsoft with the profiler trace plus App Insights evidence.
