Register2 cannot connect to database V1.2

I have a RMS system using version 1.2 that I purchased used. I have been
successful in setting up the datebase and getting my date imported from my
old system. The system has a total of 3 computers, 2 for registers and then a
file server. I have POS1/register 1 computer working fine. My problem is with
Register 2.
I can access the administration program on register 2 computer and assign
the database. I can also use manager and see my list of items in the
database. My problem comes when I try to launch store operations. There is a
delay and then I get an error message that says "unable to connect to the
database".
When I know that I have been able to connect to the database in the other 2
parts of the RMS system. What should I look at? I am thinking that something
is corrupt that store operations uses to know where the database is located.

Thank you

So you can open Manager on register 2 but not the POS app? Try turning off the Windows firewall on the server.

Just curious. How would the firewall on the server effect just one register computer? Register1 computer has NO problem with Administrator, Manager or POS connecting to the database. Register2 has no problem with Administrator, or manager connecting to the Database, just POS has the problem.

Could this have anything to do with the security dongle?

    Because it's windows. :-)

Actually I wasn't exactly sure what you meant from your post so based on today's post I'd say a reinstall or reformat is in order. Disabling the firewall might fix it but won't really explain why.

Also, (an obvious one) but make sure the register numbers are unique in Admin.

I've never seen the dongle prevent the opening of POS without giving a license violation error or opening in eval mode.

You are recommending to wipe and reinstall the OS and the application on register2 computer?

This is along the lines I was thinking but wanted to confirm before I did a big OPPS.

I have the system restore Cd for the operating system. I also have the Cd for the RMS system. I suppose that once I install the RMS I will need to run Administrator and define the location of the database and so on and so forth, as well as attach this computer to the domain.

Yes, that's what I would do. You could spend days trying to figure it out these weird problems or just reformat/reload/reconfigure in about 2 hours.
