MR 2012 how to prevent a section of rows from being touched by a tree

MR 2012 - client is currently doing a calculation in the row format based on overhead segments, but then needs to use the same segment in a tree (that does not include these overhead ones). Of course, right now it gives incorrect information because it adds them all together in the summary and skews the report.
