Unintelligble error message

Variant Code must have a value in Item Journal Line: Journal Template Name=, Journal Natch Name=, Line No.=0. It cannot be zero or empty.
 
I've been trying to post a sales order for the past hour, and keep getting this error. I can't even figure out what line on my order it's complaining about, let alone *what* it's complaining about. There's nothing on this sales order that hasn't been on a dozen just like it in the past few weeks. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Hi, this is a bit strange, I suggest you ask a developer to debug it. Is it due to some customization.
    n addition, this error is mentioned in the change log of BC21.4, but when posting Assembly Order.

    Turns out one of the items was set to require a variant code.
