Job Queue Start Time Issue in Business Central

I've noticed that jobs that run for longer than 1 minute in the Job Queue are having their next start time set to later than the Start Time assigned to the Job. for example if the job is set to run everyday with a start time of 1:00 PM and the job takes 1 hour to run, the next time the job runs will be tomorrow at 2:00 PM and then the next time it runs will be the following day at 3:00 PM (assuming it takes an hour to complete every time it runs). Attached are pics of the current job setups as well as the log entries for the last few days.

Is there any setting combination that will result in the job always running at the specified start time and not slowly creeping later and later in the day?

Thanks,

Jose

    Hi,

You can define Job Category Code field in the Job queue entry.

    Thanks.

    Hi Nitin,

Does using a Job Category Code force the job to always start at the same time everyday? If not I don't see how that will resolve my issue.

I'm also in the process of testing using the Start Time & End Time settings to see if that will resolve my issue. Do you know if the Job Queue functionality is designed to force the job to start and be completed in-between the Start Time & End Time period or is that just the parameters that say the job can only start in-between those times?

    Best,

    Jose

    Hi,

You can use Start time and End time.

    Hi,

I have been already and that has not resolved the issue for me as of yet.

Can you please share screenshots of how you have configured your job?

Hi, It looks like you are missing the attachment.

In addition, the recurrence settings of the Job queue are controlled by the fields in the following.

Maybe you have set up some kind of calculation in Next Run Date Formula?

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Having similar issue, the earliest start time is falling into the past and the job never gets triggered, happening more and more often

    Hi there,

Attached are the current settings for this job as well as a pic of the log entries. You'll see on the log entries that the Start Time of the job creeps later and later every time the job is run and starts exactly the amount of time it took to run the job the last time instead of the defined start time.

    Best,

    Jose

What happens if you put 1D in the next run date formula? Instead of using minutes between runs?
