How to apply latest CU to Dynamics NAV 2018

Hello Everyone,

I am new to MS Dynamics but one of our client's wants to upgrade themselves to the latest CU by Microsoft. We have cloned the prod and now we want to update it but not sure if we have to un-install the old version first or do something else. If anyone had done this before and can provide steps that will be very helpful.

I have tried the steps laid out by Microsoft, but they didn't work. The built # still remains the same.

Regards,

HA

Hi, I think Microsoft's instructions are pretty clear.

How to install a Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018 cumulative update

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-install-a-microsoft-dynamics-nav-2018-cumulative-update-d186e5d8-f057-1f59-e2ae-4ed12f269f52

If you still find it difficult, you can try the following products.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hi Yun,

Thank you for your prompt response.

I have followed the steps in the links by importing the CUObjects.<Locale>.<Build No.>.fob file in the development Environment and I have replaced them, then I run the setup.exe file and click the repair. Everything goes smooth but when I open NAV and check the build No. its the same as previous.

Do I need to un-install and then run the setup?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    Two things:

    1. application upgrade - this is what you seem to be doing. The version number of the objects will show the current version number

    2. platform upgrade - this is what you will continue to see in the Help menu of the development client, it will show the build number of the binaries.

If the repair does not work, you can either replace files manually or via PowerShell in a scripted way in the several folders or you can uninstall and then reinstall via setup.exe. What you prefer is up to you. After done, both the platform and application should list the correct version number.

Microsoft recommends uninstalling and perform a reinstall and we also recommend letting a partner do this.

    Thank you.

Hi, Yes, it would be better to reinstall it.
I found a blog, it may be easier to understand, I hope it can give you some tips.
