Duplicate customer PO number warning

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Is there a way to get a warning, in sales order processing, when trying to enter a duplicate customer PO number?

I haven't been able to find anything in sales order processing

    Hello,

Simple vba code can restrict user to enter Duplicate Customer PO number in Sales Transaction.

    Thanks

    Ron,

If you are on GP 9, then you can purchase this add-on from Microsoft. They sell it for $500 at last call. It's called something like 'Customer PO Number Check'. Microsoft has had this available from at least version 7.5.

As Mariano said, the good news is that it's free in version 2010! I do not think you need any special registration keys to run the free utilities. If you do not have the PSTL installed, I would do it right away. There are several free tools as part of that package.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

Well there you have it.  I am still on GP 9.  Thanks for correcting me Mariano!

    Yes,

If you are on GP 10, you can request a free add-on available by opening a support case with Microsoft. If you are on GP 2010, it's a standard part of the Professional Services Tools Library.

Take a look at the following article over at Developing for Dynamics GP: PSTL 2010 - Duplicate Customer PO Numbers in SOP Entry

This will probably need to be a customization written by your partner.  Out of the box, I do not know of an option.  You could also write a SQL query that would show this info.  It would not, however, pop up in GP when the sales order is being entered.
