How to make fields required for some users and not other users

I am using CRM 2016 sp1 (on-prem) and I was wondering if there was a way to make fields required for some users and not other users. I have some custom lookup fields that I would like required for sales people but not accounting people.

    Hi

You would have to use Field Level Security.

You could create 2 different forms for you users, and control which form users see with permissions.

Then you could set different field requirements as needed, based on which form users are working with.

Just to expand a little bit.. if there are two forms, field requirements would have to be set through business rules/javascript.

Field security might not help really.. it's about access rather than about a field being required or not

And one other option might be to use a single form and a javascript to set field requirements depending on used role/team membership(which might mean quite a bit of scripting)

    Hi,

You have 2 option 1st one is use the Single Form with custom java script for making the field required depending upon the conditions.

2nd and the best option would be use the Field level security to show the fields for particular user and Hide from other user.

Use javascript to make lookup mandatory. First get the Security Role or team of the current user using web API then use it in condtion to make lookup mandatory/ non mandatory.

The requirement is to make the field mandatory or not mandatory. Wonder why so many suggestion on the field security, don't make sense.

The simple way is to create a business rule which allows you to define the conditions as per your question on users and then set the field for required or not required - thus allowing the form to be saved. If you are comfortable with js, you can bring back the security group of the current user logged in and and set the field requirement on the conditions described. Look out for users with multiple rights assigned to them, including the teams that have their own security roles assigned to them.

This is a strangely tricky question.. you can't define business rules "per user".. at least not in 365 - there is no such condition as far as I can see

    Hi

There is no need for Field Security, if it is just to make the field Business Required.

I interpreted 'required' as permission, that is why I was mentioning Field Security.
