You need to change it's Item Type in the Item Card to Discontinued.  It will prevent buying/receiving the item but still allow you to sell the item if, in Sales Order Processing Setup>>Options, you check the box that says 'Allow Sale of Discontinued Items'.  If you don't want to sell Discontinued Items, uncheck the box.

    Hope this helps,

If you don't want to be able to transfer or do any other type of transactions on the item, what is the status of it?  Is it obsolete?  There is no way that I'm aware of to selectively restrict the ability to transfer by Item number without custom coding.

    Hi Frank,

Basically i am aware about the item which is having QTY we cannot stop to make Transfer. These items are obsolete/Expiry Items, here in this case i made an item as discontinued item (we could not able to buy/sale) and created an obsolete warehouse and moved QTY to  obsolete warehouse to make the QTY=0.

Hope this is the rite way?

    Thanks,

That all sounds appropriate Refeesh.  Another step you can take is to Transfer the QTY to a different Quantity Type such as 'In Service' or 'Damaged' to ensure that no one can transact or allocate that QTY.  That will provide one more layer of safeguard against the items being used.

    Frank,

I like it! So many times those different inventory item status types aren't used. They are very handy!

We have 'Allow Sale of Discontinued Items' unchecked, but a return order can still be processed.  How do we stop returns on discontinued items?

    Thank you,

    Donnette

Are you using the SOP Return or Returns Management?
