Hi,

I am trying to set up Field Level Security on a field. When I Enable the field for FLS, it displays the field as asterisks ******* for all users who are not in the FLS. Even if there is no text in the field.

For users who are in the FLS, they can see either the text in the field or that the field is blank i.e. they don't see the asterisks.

Can anyone advise why this would be?

    Thanks for the quick reply.  Do you know how I can allow the user to access the fields to read the data in them, without giving them the FLS profile? I've set up other FLS profiles and don't have the asterisks. I'm confused! Thanks.

    Hi Agnes,

    I have two questions to understand the issue you are facing

    a) Can you tell me the need to enable field level security when you are looking for some way to override its  behavior.

    b) Secondly i could not understand what you meant my setting up FLS profiles without the asterisk symbol.

    Once you can provide the information i may be able to understand the issue in a better way.

    Hi Agnes,

    If u just want users to read the field but not update and create then go to Field Permissions and  Edit. Then the other window will popup there you can choose what level of access you want to give.
