Automating the process of import of vendor catalogs(CMR file)

Hi,

I'm working on a business requirement where i'm planning to automate the process of import of vendor catalogs using the CMR file.

At the moment i've a CMR file with multiple items stored in a blob and i could manually import it in D365FO.

I would appreciate if you could suggest a design that could automate this process, i.e., once the file arrives in the blob, it gets picked up and get imported in F&O.

I'm doing a POC using a power automate, however any other recommendations are most welcome.

    Hi Nik1404,

    Power Automate should be able to do this. You can also have a look at the documentation about recurring integrations: docs.microsoft.com/.../recurring-integrations

    CMR catalog import is built on top on a data management Like Andre mentioned, you can automated this process using several ways. In the past I have triggered it using Functions Apps ( more low level), but you can use Logics Apps, Power Automate etc.

    If I’m not in mistake, without a customization, it won’t trigger catalog maintenance workflow approval and delete outdated vendor catalogs after import

    Thanks for the kind reply.

    Yes, i tried to download template from vendor catalog form and get an xml out of it. The xml says its Data entity- CatVendorCatalogMaintainenceRequsetEntity. However, the strange thing is, on this data entity i just see one field. Looking at the generated xml, i expected it to be Composite entity.

    To trigger the vendor catalog, my ideas are as below-

    Use power automate to insert records from the file(stored in blob) into F&O. Once record is inserted into data entity, i can call the trigger to create catalogs. Do we have any blogs which i could get some help with. I tried searching but couldnt get much :(

    Do you think its a good idea to spend time on this design. Or should i re-think the design from a recurring based integration perspective, as Andre recommended.

    Thanks Andre, i would keep this kind suggestion in the To Do list if i fail to achieve my goal using power automate.

    The data entity should be CatVendorCatalogEntity and not CatVendorCatalogMaintainenceRequsetEntity. I prefer recurring integrations
