View All Sales Order Regardless of Status

ReportReport
Posted on by 18
I have recently joined a new company and I have been assigned the task of creating a weekly, daily sales report for reporting to the directors and external sales team.

In a nutshell what I simply would like to achieve is to run a daily/ weekly "sales orders received report"

This is a new system to me, previously have used sage, encore, exchequer systems, but the data seems to be able to be exported to excel easily enough.   I can build the necessary dashboard to create the report using the excel data I will export from the system.

The problem I am finding is there doesn't seem to be master screen for "all sales orders received"   what seems to be there is main sales orders screen which only shows (outstanding sales orders, "part shipped" or "not yet shipped").    The orders which have been despatched seem to disappear and and get moved to a sales orders archive, I'm assuming this happens once the order has been pushed to invoice.

I wondered if there was simply a way of seeing all sales orders entries by date amd regardless of status,  it seems odd this isn't available,  unless I'm missing something obvious!
I have the same question (0)

This is standard BC behavior. If you don't want the order to disappear, you can create a Sales Invoice and using get shipment feature, and the order will be retained, as I mentioned in the post below.
Dynamics 365 Business Central: How to keep Orders after completely invoiced

Alternatively, you can do some small customizations to retain orders.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
In Business Central this is expected behavior: the Sales Orders page only shows open orders (not shipped or partially shipped), and once an order is fully processed and invoiced it moves to Posted Sales Invoices, while the original document can be found in Sales Order Archive. If you want a daily or weekly “sales orders received” report regardless of status, the usual approach is to report from Sales Header (Document Type = Order) filtered by Order Date, or export the Sales Order List with an order date filter to Excel so you capture all orders created in that period.

Thanks for the reply,  this seems strange and a lot of leg work to achieve what I would consider a basic report for a business to be able to achieve.  Surely there must be a report within BC that can show a basic sales order received for all orders?   Or I am guessing this will be an extra cost and/or something that BC will have to create for us?

There isn't a standard report which will give you this answer, as already said sales orders are deleted/archived (depending on setup) once they are fully shipped and invoiced.

Is it simply the number of sales orders per day, or will you need to report value?

thanks oussama, where do I access sales headers report please?  Sorry still quite new to this system and when I type sales headers into the search box nothing comes up.

    Thanks AndrewThomas81.

I just need to report a sales value for all orders received.   We have an external sales team and I need to be able to show them their orders received performance by week/months etc.

If I can get the value and Sales order number reference for each order against customer I can export the data into excel and create my own dashboard,  i just don't understand why an odder would disappear from an order system once dispatched.   Surely a filter between outstanding/ orders shipped,  part shipped would be beneficial.
