Inventory Dimension Location not getting updated on Production BOM

Hi,

We am seeing strange behaviors in D365 F&O, we are not using WMS , this scenario is  with standard Inventory Management module.

We have default locations in Production orders because we use flushing as FINISH. when i create production order , default location is not copied from BOM lines to production BOM lines.

but if the BOM has a item that is Type PHANTOM, and components of Phantom Item are having default location, these locations are copying on the Production BOM.

is this how D365 is designed or this is a issue because we have some thing odd setup in our environment.

I have the same question (0)

ok so this is my another finding, when i am creating work order Manually location is only copying from phantom parts components, but if i create work order as firming from MRP then production order is having proper location copying to production BOM line from BOM lines.

    Hi Yashpal,

The default location that is populated comes from the Default Order settings setup on the item. If this is blank it will not get copied to the Production Order.

    Thanks

    Jason,

    1. Locations are getting copied from BOM to Production BOM if Production order is created from MRP, so system behaviors is not consistent.

    2. Where do you see Location did on default order settings? Default order setting has Default Site and Warehouse.

If the warehouse is not WHS enabled, you can configure default locations in the warehouse items table.
