I may be missing something obvious but how do you switch off Dynamics GP's integration with Lync?
A client has Lync installed but does not want to use it with GP.

There isn't a switch to turn it on or off. It simply lights up when the environment has Lync installed and Lync is open prior to Dynamics GP being launched.

Turns out this issue has been asked before: community.dynamics.com/.../87953.aspx
One of your colleagues suggested renaming Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.Rtc.dll. Are there any risks to this?

Based on this post (community.dynamics.com/.../105759.aspx), it appears that Jonathon is ok with renaming or removing the dll. I'd suggest renaming in case you want to use it in the future.
I would actually remove the file as if you don't rename it the correct way it will still try to launch that file and you could get errors. If you want that file back and you delete it by accident you can just run a repair on GP to recreate the DLL.
