I didn't see your screenshot. Use rich formatting while attaching images.

Could you please mention the error message?

    RE: ODBC connection error

    Hi DIOP,

while creating ODBC connection use SQL Server Native Client above 10.0 such as 11.

    check the connectivity again.

Although the native client 10.0 will work, 11 is suggested for best performance with SQL 2012

But like Pragadees mentioned, there was no error message.

    Hi Carl,

i dint get the above screen shot.

you are correct, for 64 bit machine, if you are pointing SQL server 2012 with GP 2013, then Native client is 11.

Yes. Please attach the error screen shot with using "Use rich formatting" menu located near by Reply button. We couldn't see the error screen shot which you have attached with your question.

    RE: ODBC connection error

Thanks everyone for the replies! what i just did, I installed GP on the client machine and let the installation create the ODBC. It went successfully. Now i try to access the GP Utilities but it gives me the error saying "Your attemp to log in to the server failed because an unknown error occured when the user ID and Password were being verified. Attempt to log in again". I can access the GP Utilities from the sql server where GP is installed with no problem and with the same sa ID and pw. Once thing I notice though is when I go to the ODBC screen and click on System DSN, I get the message saying:

when I click OK, it lets me in and it shows the ODBC that was created:

But I noticed that the ODBC that is created is 32-bit and the machine is a 64-bit.

I hope I can get an answer quick! It's pretty urgent that I complete this task. greatly appreciate it!

I hope the screenshots are now showing. i used the rich text format

There still are no error messages there

If you're in Windows 8, click start, and search for odbc.  Select the 32-bit option and create a System connection to wherever you need to.  If the one you created in setup still exists, delete it

    (Needs to be 32-bit)

    RE: ODBC connection error

I just went to the ODBC 32-bit version using this path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe

i attached the error in case the screenshot of the error doesn't show in the body of the message.

    That message came though

Like I mentioned before though, you should use the Native Client 11, not version 10 like that error shows.
