Unable to reserve lot numbers against a sales order

Hi

I'm using Dynamics 365 Business Central and want to be able to reserve a lot number against a sales order. The item card planning field "reserve" is set to optional, as is the "reserve" field on the customer item card.

When I create a sales order, the "reserve" field on the sales order line is set to Never which prevents me from being able to reserve a lot against the sales order line.

Does anyone know why this would be the case, is there another setting to be changed that would cause this?

    Is this a drop shipment or special order? if the item is set to optional then it will use the value from the order and order gets the reserve value from the Bill to Customer No. card.

    It's a special order - the reverse value is set to optional on both the item card and the bill to customer card but when the order line is created is it setting the reserve value to Never and I don't understand where it's picking this up from

    For special order or drop ship, standard NAV sets the reservation to never irrespective of what you have on the item card, because you already have the link between SO and PO
