Posting Timesheets in Project - Error

(0) ShareShare

When client attempts to post Timesheets entered via Business Portal the system generates the following error:

PA TS Journal Distributions has caused unknown error

Once the client attempted to review the Timesheet - they appear in Timesheet >> Series Post window as either Posting or Available.

What I need to know is where are these unposted timesheets held.  They have been approved in BP by the manager, they have been edited - if needed - in PDK.  Now we are trying to post and generating tons of errors.

When the system 'completed' the posting - there are a large number of batches that are still Available and another bunch that are sitting as Marked as Posting.

Need help and need help now.

RE: Posting Timesheets in Project - Error

Here is what happened and how we solved the problem.

Do the large volume of transactions - over 800 timesheets - we had a failure of the posting.

When we recovered from that we were faced with over 800 timesheets still showing in the system, over half of them still marked as 'POSTING', the other half were sitting in the Series Post window with a status of Available.

When we tried to restart the posting - we went to the series post and marked them all to post.

A number of the batches posted and the rest failed.  As we dug into the details, we learned that a number of the projects at the Contract level were closed to accepting Project Costs.

We went into Projects and opened the ones as necessary.

After completing this task, we were able to complete the posting of the Available batches.

Once this was done, we removed from the SY00500 table all the PA_TS BCHSOURC records, and for sure, all the Timesheet batches were returned to AVAILABLE

As we worked over the batches still in the window, we learned that majority of the batch transactions were actually POSTED - this was validated in the system by the controller and she is satisfied that we have resolved the problem.

We have then gone to the PA10000 and PA10001 table and removed all the batches, by Timesheet number that are currently also in the PA30100 and PA30101 tables.

Once completed the batches were all gone - as expected.

    Case Closed.

RE: Posting Timesheets in Project - Error

    Question

If I have a number of batches in PA that are marked as POSTING and the system is not posting them - and a restore of the database is not an option - then can I remove the 'stuck' batches from the SY00800 and still expect to see the data in PA Timesheet Series Post.

Thanks for looking at this for me.

RE: Posting Timesheets in Project - Error

    Quick Update

While trying to figure out the nature of the error I have determined the following

The content of the PA10000 holds all the timesheet records in question - which is what we expect

The ones that are marked POSTING appear in the PA10000 with a PAREPD of 6 while the ones mared AVAILABLE have a PAREPD of 5

All the timesheets showing in the PA10000 as PAREPD as 6 also appear in the DYNAMICS..SY00800 showing the 'sending' and 'receiving' to the GL records.

There is a BACHSOURC for both the GL and the PA with a BACHNUMB corresponding that I can find the matching records in the PA10000 and the GL10000 tables.

I am not clear on what is generating the error and the data appears to be formed in the database correctly - or at least as well as I can tell.  I am sure that there is going to be a single record out of place.
