MS CRM SOlution Import Failure - Object Reference Not Set to an Instance

Hi-

We have been importing a managed solution to target UAT environment and solution import is failing with error "object reference not set to an instance of object", we are just importing few custom workflows, custom entities.

This workflows are  created using "process templates" , i.e saving existing workflows as template, then created new worflow from this saved template as we wanted to modify existing workflows and keep existing as back up.

We have included newly created workflows in solution to migrate to target environment.

Tried tracing, looking at solution log file but was no clue, just throwing error.

This is on CRM 2013 SP1 UR1.

Please advice

    Hello Neeraj,

I am guessing that you are using an On premise Deployment.

If you could possibly enable tracing on the CRM sever while you try to import the solution and then disable the tracing when you receive the error, we could be able to get some more details about the error.

As you mentioned that the log files are showing error messages, if you could share the error messages we would be  able to assist you in a better manner.

Because the error which we are getting right now is generic in nature and does not describe what might be interfering with the import of the solution,

In past instances it is mostly seen this problem arising due to leftover fields between the deletion of an preexisting solution and then import of a similar solution that might contain the same field.

Hence please share with us the stack of the error message and we would be able to guide you in a better manner.

Please mark my answer as verified if you found it useful.
