Script error - Object expected in IE11 using SharePoint integration plug-in

Hello,

We have been having a problem with a script error since Tuesday 19/10/2015. I have tried pretty much everything I can think of and have got nowhere, and have even involved a few third party support companies to look at it and they have found nothing.

Basically when you try to open a folder from the Quote - Documents area in CRM using the SharePoint integration plug-in, you receive this script error:

Line: 1

Char: 93429

Error: Object expected

Code: 0

URL: https://sharepoint.asafe.com/crmgrid/scripts/SPGlobal.js

We get this error when we open these quote documents in both IE11 and the CRM 2015/2013 client (Which opens the frame in IE11). However it works perfectly in all other web browsers, including earlier versions of IE (IE9, 10 etc.). So I am thinking it is a problem with IE11 not allowing this script to run on the page. I have set a group policy for our CRM website to use IE10 document mode, this fixes it in IE11, but it still doesn't work in the Outlook client.

This all seemed to happen after an IE11 update on the Monday evening before it stopped working. Does anyone have any thoughts on how we can fix this issue. If not I may just have to revert everyone to IE10.

Did you end up finding a fix for this? I am seeing this exact error

    Hi Fhds,

I did actually find a fix for this in the end.

The reason behind it was, because of update 1 to MSCRM 2015, the SharePoint integration List Component had depreciated.

So what I did was download the latest version of the List Component here: www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx I then replaced the current List Component on my on-premise SharePoint server with this one and the script error no longer came up.

To get to the List Component on SharePoint, here are the steps:

    1. Click the cog in the top right hand corner then click "Site Settings"

    2. Under the "Web Designer Galleries" heading click "Solutions"

    3. Click "Upload Solution" then upload your new list component

    4. Delete the old list component

Let me know if this fixes it for you.

P.S. This is the original poster, I had to create a new account.

Thanks for the reply! I will try to use the 2015 List Component again this weekend.  I want to say it wouldn't install for me before when we first deployed CRM 2015 so I used the 2013 List Component instead.  I will certainly try again though and see if anything has changed with all the updates that have come out.

I am currently Sharepoint 2010 onprem and CRM 2015 onprem.  Based on your instructions it sounds like you are on Sharepoint 2013?

Thanks again for the reply - I'll let you know how it goes.

p.s. - I had to create a new account too for some reason, hence the frustrated name. :)

Quick update to this in case anyone else finds themselves in the unfortunate situation that I did originally when upgrading from CRM4 to CRM 2015 onpremise with SharePoint 2010 onpremise.  The CRM 2015 List Component for SharePoint 2010 just flat out doesn't work. When you go to activate it you get an error about it not being able to activate.  I was able to activate the CRM 2013 List Component for SP2010 just fine so I went with that as I couldn't find any bugs with it.  A few months went by and then we finally found a quirk, IE11.  Go figure...  Some of the commands in the list component like "New" or "Actions" wouldn't render the drop down choices in IE11.  The "Open Sharepoint" link would work and the documents in the library would display but you couldn't use the New/Actions button.

I had been holding out for a CRM 2015 Update 1 list component that was supposed to be released months ago but never was.  Thankfully I stumbled upon a CRM2016 List Component for SharePoint 2010 that I installed overtop the CRM 2013 one and it appears to be working fine.  The New/Action buttons work fine in IE11.

Here is the link to the list component I am using now:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=50374

If I run into any quirks Ill be sure to share here but it seems like the CRM2016 component with CRM2015 .2 Update onpremise seems to work.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

I had issues with SharePoint 2103 and CRM 2013 sp1 ur 4 with the 2013 list component.

Issue 1: Folders are visible but not opened in CRM. You can add files but they are not shown

Issue 2: globalSP.JS Script errors in outlook connector

    Issue 3: Object exptected

All issues solved with installing the 2016 List component.

I thought, why not try it, if it fails I could always go back.

Seriously, this had me going for a while, thank you so much for your quick update.
