Opportunity Updates Account information

Hello,

What is the best way for an Opportunity to update Account information. For example: When creating an opportunity we have the Address Field, City Field, Zip Field, Phone, Field, and type of industry option field auto filled based on the information already added in the Account. However, what if the account information is updated in the Opportunity fields? how do I get the updated information to update the account??

Thank you,

JM

    Hi

You should be able to create a workflow on Opportunity that triggers on address fields changes and update the related account address fields.

workflow is the better way to do it . you can also write a Script to update the the account using Xrm.webAPI in change of opportunity address.

    Hi ,

If my understanding is correct you would like to display same account information in opportunity form?  if so  is there any reason you create different fields in opportunity entity?

I am asking as because you can display   account information (address, city ...) using  quick view form in the opportunity form. You don't need to worry about sync , just to update by going to selected account form instead of opportunity itself.

Quick View Form are readonly so user can not change it .

Assuming you have already using these fields in your opportunity form, I will suggest you to look for workflow or plugin, as it will help you to keep your entity update in case someone updated account using service call whereas client side code will only fire when you will come to opportunity screen. but yes, if you want to give user to see change in these field as soon as you change account lookup you can have script as well.

Ideally it should not happen, We change Address on Account and contact.

But exceptions are always there, You can create a workflow for opportunity entity that trigger on change of Address field and update associated account.

Quick Views will not work for this since users need to edit. Thank you though

    Decided to write a plugin.
