Rewriting Silverlight Web Resources

(0) ShareShare

Now we know that:

  1. Silverlight is safely still supported with Dynamics CRM 2013 (but not on Tablet/Mobile clients)
  2. Silverlight 5 is supported on IE, Chrome, Firefox and Safari (Intel based Mac)

My question is:

  1. Who has *concrete* plans to re-write any of their existing Silverlight Web Resources with HTML & JavaScript, and what are your key drivers that justify the cost-benefit?
  2. What libraries are you planning on using (jQuery, jQuery UI, KendoUI, AngularJS, KnockoutJS, SparkleXRM etc.).
  3. Are there any metrics that you are using to estimate the effort required (e.g. multiple of the initial silverlight development time)

Looking forwards to hearing from you!

    Hi Scott,

no Silverlight Web Resources to convert overhere. Surfing to find out what's best to use for our future web resources, jQuery, jQuery UI, AngularJS or SparkleXRM. For now I would say SparkleXRM.

    What do you recommend?

    Hi Marcel,

www.SparkleXRM.com is essentially a collection of other libraries with some glue to make them work with Dynamics CRM - and it does include jQuery, jQuery UI as well as KnockoutJS rather than AngularJS for data binding.

I would of course recommend SparkleXRM since I'm the founding author of it! It gives you a spring board to get up and running quickly.

    Cheers,

    Scott
