Decimal Placement for Purchasing

Hi:

In our current environment, the number of decimal places for "Qty. to Receive" in the Purchase Order is four.

Line item Type is "G/L Account".

Are there any issues, short term or long term, with trying to change this decimal placement from four to eight?

If not, how can this change be made?

Thanks!

John

The default number of decimal places in Business Central is 5 - basically all over the system.

So changing that will require a lot of customization that i would not recommend you to do.

Hi, as igne mentioned, The qty in BC is forced to 0:5 in the code, you cannot change it.

    Hope this info will help.

    Thanks.

    John,

Adding to other replies... BC max decimal is 5. You can see this in the Unit-Amount Decimal Places 2:5, 5 being the max decimals.

Though you can change code but 8 decimal places is not practical and that many decimals, I cannot see how it would impact an Item with 5 decimals. Are you having Quantity issues? I would recommend using 5 and if your Type = G/L Account not sure why it would matter about Quantity since you are not recording the transaction with a Quantity in a sub-ledger like Inventory. Also, I would guess your Accounting team would want the Amounts to round to 2 decimals places.

    Thanks,

    Steve
